Maps show us the world.
There are two types of maps: physical maps and political maps.
Physical Maps
Physical maps show what the world looks like. On a physical map, you can see lakes, rivers and mountains. The land is in different colours. The colours show if the land is high or low. Low land is green and high land is brown. Rivers, lakes and seas are blue.
Political Maps
Political maps show the countries of the world. On a political map, you can see the borders between countries. The countries are in different colours. You can see the cities in the countries. The capital city has a special symbol. The symbol can be a star, a red square or a red circle.
