Desired Task Outcome Pupils will be able to access and search online stores. They will be able to understand the structure and the conventions of web stores. They will be able to save a picture from the web They will be able to explain the choices that they made.
Task Description Pupils will get acquainted with several online toy stores and compare them. They will then choose a toy for themselves from one of the stores and present it in the toy gallery.
Assessment Pupils will reflect on their work with the help of a personal checklist.

Task Stages

Pupils will see links to three online toy stores and a link to the Making Waves mock toy store. They will have to look into these stores.Pupils will have to compare the toy stores according to the online store criteria they learned in the previous task. They will have to fill in yes/ no questions about each site on a chart.

  • Pupils use the language as a means for gaining information in other areas.
  • Teachers create a language-rich environment, one that provides pupils with ample opportunities to encounter a variety of verbal and visual stimuli and use the language in different contexts and registers.
The pupils will choose one toy from each site, according to their personal preferences. They will save the picture of the toys on their computer. (They will receive instructional help on how to save a picture and how to browse to view it.)

  • Pupils are motivated and are willing to invest the effort and persistence needed for foreign language learning.
  • Pupils have the opportunity to choose texts and tasks according to individual preferences.
Pupils will view the saved toys and choose their favorite toy. They will fill in a form to tell others about their favorite toy. They will publish the picture and description of their favorite toy on the toy gallery on the Web site.
  • Pupils interact, share information, exchange ideas and opinions and work together.
  • The task generates a variety of outcomes.
